Kirby Moore's Bio:
I am a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP) in private practice in Charlottesville, Virginia, and I also see clients online for distant sessions. I am certified in Craniosacral Therapy and in working with the Polyvagal System, and I have completed the full certification training plus advanced training in Integral Somatic Psychology (ISP). My background includes extensive study in Pre- and Perinatal Psychology and Birth Process Work, with a particular focus on repairing early and developmental trauma that shapes lifelong patterns of regulation, attachment, and embodiment.
Drawing from over a decade of advanced somatic studies, I also integrate Zapchen Somatics, developed by Julie Henderson, in which I have completed advanced workshops and am qualified to teach. My approach combines precise somatic tracking with a deep respect for the body’s innate intelligence and capacity for self-regulation and repair.
As a gender-creative practitioner, I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all clients, including those who identify as LGBTQ+ and BIPOC. I welcome diversity of experience and expression, recognizing that safety, belonging, and attunement are central to the healing process.
I specialize in working with adults who experience complex or difficult-to-treat symptoms often rooted in early trauma. My goal is to support clients in restoring coherence, presence, and resilience through attuned, body-based work. I work with Mothers & Babies (and families) as well, offering nervous system settling, resourcing and birth trauma resolution after challenging pre-natal and birth dynamics.
Alongside my formal clinical and somatic trainings, I bring over twenty years of committed Buddhist practice. This long-term contemplative training deeply informs the quality of attention, presence, and compassion I bring to my work.
In addition to my clinical practice, I created the Trauma Informed Astrology platform and have taught workshops and classes exploring the intersection of nervous system repair, embodiment tools, and western astrology. I offer intentional, personalized Astrology Interpretations and I use the birth chart to enhance my client’s somatic process work.

Extended Bio:
In 2002, during a surgical procedure, I had a near-death experience that quietly altered the trajectory of my life. It was not something I immediately understood. In fact, it took nearly three years for me to fully grasp what had happened and how deeply it had shifted my perception. As that understanding gradually unfolded, I found myself more attuned to subtle layers of experience, intuition, and embodied awareness. What began as a subconscious knowing slowly became a conscious, guiding thread in both my personal life and my professional path.
That experience redirected me toward studying healing in a much broader way. In 2003, I began exploring Reiki energetic healing and Western astrology as early frameworks for understanding energy, psyche, and meaning. In 2005, I met a gifted Craniosacral Therapy teacher and began training in Julie Henderson’s Zapchen Somatics. Around the same time, I connected with my Tibetan Buddhist teachers and committed to a daily meditation practice that has now continued for more than twenty years.
Over the next decade, I completed numerous ten-day silent meditation retreats, advanced Zapchen Somatics trainings, and Buddhist teaching retreats. These formative years cultivated steadiness, patience, and a deep respect for how the nervous system heals. They also strengthened my capacity to remain present with intense emotions and difficult life experiences without rushing toward solutions.
In 2012, I began advanced study with Kathy Kain's material in Touch Skills for Trauma Therapists, which led me into Somatic Experiencing. I initially entered SE through advanced coursework and later completed the full Somatic Experiencing Practitioner certification between 2018 and 2021. My work increasingly focused on trauma physiology and developmental repair.
In 2013, I participated in a powerful Womb Surround Process workshop with Myrna Martin, which introduced me to Birth Process Work. The precision and depth of this modality resonated deeply with my earlier explorations of rupture and reorganization. I formally began immersive study in 2016, attending several of Myrna Martin’s intensive workshops in British Columbia. Birth Process Work remains a central offering in my practice, particularly for clients working with early attachment wounds, medical trauma, and pre-verbal imprints.
In 2021, I began studying with Raja Selvam, senior faculty member of Somatic Experiencing and founder of Integral Somatic Psychology. This work deepened my understanding of emotional integration and expanded my skill in working with complex developmental and birth trauma. I have also pursued advanced training in developmental trauma with Raja Selvam and Robin Grille.
There are few practitioners who integrate Somatic Experiencing, Integral Somatic Psychology, Birth Process Work, Craniosacral Therapy, and Asian Bodywork within a single clinical framework. When combined with a long-standing contemplative practice and spiritual inquiry, my work bridges nervous system science and consciousness-based healing. It is grounded in physiology and informed by decades of meditation and subtle body awareness.
I see healing as both biological and deeply human. The nervous system reorganizes when it feels safe enough. Early imprints can shift when they are met with presence and precision. And suffering softens when it is approached with steadiness rather than urgency. My work lives at the intersection of trauma repair and awareness, helping clients move toward greater regulation, integration, and embodied clarity.
